2015 Amy Gillett Share the Road Tour
Story
I'm riding in my 6th Amy Share the Road Tour on Nov 9. We are riding a 1,000 route from Sydney, through the Snowy's and back to Canberra - where they have just introduced a 1 meter minimum passing distance.
The AGF has achieved incredible change over the past 2 years, getting minimum passing distance into legislation in _ALMOST_ every state and territory. The last holdout in my home state of Victoria. We need to see this change made before more people are killed.
Last year 35 Australians died on their bike, and 32 of them were hit by vehicles. Minimum passing distance is the biggest single change we can make.
The AGF needs to fun a last push in Vic, and that's why Im riding my bike to raise money.
I’m asking my friends to dig in deep, as we all want to be safe and make it home alive. Please click the Donate button now to make a difference. I welcome any contribution, great or small!
Thank you very much for your support.
Activity
Amy Gillett Foundation
The Amy Gillett Foundation (AGF) began its work in 2006 in the name of Amy Gillett, who was tragically killed as a result of being hit by a motorist whilst cycling with the Australian Women’s Road cycling team in Germany in 2005.
The Amy Gillett Foundation's vision is for safe bicycling throughout Australia in order to achieve the ultimate target of zero bicycling fatalities.
The Foundation promotes a safe and harmonious relationship of shared respect between bicyclists and motorists – to highlight the importance of being responsible every time we head out on the road whether we're on two wheels or on four. Why? Because everyone deserves to arrive at their destination safely irrespective of their chosen mode of transport.
